Where to find the markings?
Pitch
The distance between rivets divided by two: 1/4", 3/8" LP (Picco), .325", 3/8", .404". Stamped on the guide bar near the mount and on the cutter links.
Drive link gauge
The width of the guide bar groove: 1.1 mm (.043"), 1.3 mm (.050"), 1.5 mm (.058"), 1.6 mm (.063"). Often given in inches on the bar.
Number of drive links
The links that run in the guide bar groove (DL, TG, E). Count them on the old chain or read them off the bar, e.g. “62DL”.
